About Me

First of all: speaking English and Spanish has been the key to experiencing everything I’m about to share with you below. Do you know that metaphor about having your ticket ready just in case the train comes by? Well, when my train arrived, I had the ticket in hand:

I grew up on the beautiful island of Fuerteventura, and from a young age, I was good with languages – if you don’t believe me, just ask my parents about how I used to “sing” songs in English all around the house 🎶. In high school, I discovered Classical Languages and became deeply interested in them because I suddenly understood more about the origins of my language, and I was fascinated by etymologies, phonetic evolution, and history.

🏛️ So I went to Salamanca and studied Classical Philology (Latin and Greek) while continuing to study English on my own and dabbling in other languages – Italian, German, Modern Greek… After six years in that wonderful city, having finished a degree and two master’s programs, I had the opportunity to move to Hong Kong 🇭🇰 to teach Spanish (this is the train I was talking about).

Saying yes to that adventure was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made (and the scariest). There, I developed my skills as a teacher, working with students from ages 2 to 65, with large groups – once I even told stories to over 100 Hong Kong children at the same time! – and also in one-on-one classes for those who preferred to move forward at their own pace.

When I returned to Spain, my desire to continue teaching Spanish to my students in Hong Kong led me to open my own online teaching space đź’».

Now, I prioritise students who are eager, motivated, and have clear goals. I’ve worked with civil service exam candidates, people preparing for English language exams (Cambridge, Trinity, and EOI exams) or Spanish exams like the DELE, 👨‍💻 digital nomads looking to communicate with locals, people wanting to connect with their Spanish-speaking partners’ families ❤️, high school students wanting to improve their grades for university, and many travellers who refuse to rely on Google Translate during their adventures 🗺️ (good for them!).

I don’t know what goal you’ve set for yourself, but if you are truly committed to your learning process and want to finally see progress and move forward, you can send me a WhatsApp message, contact me on IG, or email me at lauraledoclasesonline@gmail.com.
